Have you tried the THUPPANGADI BIRIYANI at Babakulls yet ?
“
India is truly a land of Biryani crazy people. As per the recent report by one of the leading online food delivery platform, there were whopping 5.5 lakh Biryani orders during the lockdown.
”
Be it Avadhi from Lucknow or lesser known in the north, to the Kolkata style biryani with potato in the east, to the plethoras of popular options in south like the Hyderabadi, Ambur, Dindigul, Thalassery, Donne, Bhatkali and many more, we all crave for our favourite one.

But I’m here today to talk about a biryani, which is relatively unknown, but truly delicious, from the town in the Karavali region of Karnataka called Thuppangadi, now lost in the realms of the history.
“The traditional recipes has been inherited from great grandfather in the early 1900s during his freedom fighting days”, says the founder of Babakulls , Rahul Kulkarni.
Available only at Babakull’s Cook House, this traditional form of biriyani making where Thuppangadi ghee plays the central role in defining the aromas of a flavorful yet simple everyday biriyani.
What else to order from Babakulls ?
Here’s my pick.
Besides their biryani, one should try all their Kebabs options, like the B’LURU KEBAB, the perfectly grilled red chicken kebabs, MALABARI COCONUT KEBAB with flavours from the coastal Kerala, PATTA KEBAB made with Kadi pata, an important ingredient used in most of south indian kitchens, and ofcourse my favourite, made with green chilli paste and mildly flavoured TORPEDO CHILI FRIED CHICKEN. You can order these delicacies via Swiggy and Zomato
