Travel Review – Paradise Resort at Phi Phi Islands, Thailand
During my recent Thailand trip, the scenic island of Phi Phi between Krabi and Phuket was part of my Itinerary. Having been part of many Hollywood movies including the Bond movie “The Man with the Golden Gun” and “The Beach” , it is considered to be one of the most magnificent islands on earth.Â
GETTING TO PARADISE RESORT
After a blissful two days at resort town near the Andaman coast, Krabi. Our next destination was beautiful PhiPhi islands. We boarded a ferry cruise and arrived at the Tonsai Pier. The staff of Paradise resort was waiting for us and we were boarded on to the private resort boat ,along with other guests. The scenic 15 minute boat ride took us to the resort property. The white sand beaches and the beautiful surroundings seems to be welcoming us. The weather was pleasantly sunny with cool breeze touching us with love.
THE RESORTÂ Â
Once the boat reached the shores of the Paradise Resort , some of my co-passengers had difficulty getting down from the boat as it was low tide day . It was almost 4 in the afternoon when we checked in. I was little tired , perhaps due to my first ever long sea ferry ride and therefore I  decided to take a power nap.Their dining facilities were closed. during the afternoon after 3 pm and reopen only after 6 in the evening
MY ROOMÂ AT PARADISE RESORT
The beach front Resort has 25 bungalows and 10 rooms, situated 30 meters away from the white sand. I chose to stay in a Standard Bungalow, with double bed.The well appointed rooms are modern in design with good amenities like air conditioned , with large airy windows with a view. The bathroom was small but well equipped for the stay. The cosy sitting area in the front with a view was a definite plus. I enjoyed sitting there, sipping tea in the morning or just reading from my Kindle while it was raining out there.
EATING & DRINKING AT PARADISE RESORT
The dining options here are limited but definitely among the best on the Long island. In-fact, we found it as the most crowded for dining among all the places on the Long beach. Since they also had a mini-provision store near the Reception, I never felt short of my munching stock.
The live seafood counter for dinner had some fresh catch from the Andaman sea.And we chose to try one of the salmon and requested them grill in a salt crust. Some of the local seafood delicacies like Yam Talay, the Thai spicy seafood salad, fried rice with crab meat were too good to resist. For the drinks, there is not much of a choice , and we ordered few cans of Beer , Breezer and ginger ale with our meal.
Our breakfast was complimentary as part of the room deal. It was decently lavish and had array of local and continental dishes. If you want to try other places you can also visit nearby resorts on the same beach for dining too. The resort also provides scheduled free transport and on demand paid transport to the Tonsai Pier for those who want to venture
WELLNESSÂ AT PARADISE RESORT
There is no spa facility at the resort but the Thai Massage is available at nominal prices. Ranging between Baht 300 to Baht 500 for 30 / 60 minute of services ,it was a total rejuvenation solution for me after a long day on the beach. I chose the aromatic massage on the day 1 and the dry one on the day 2 of my stay.
ACTIVITIES AT PARADISE RESORTÂ Â
There were not much of activities at the resort barring the Thai Massage , spending time at the Library and enjoying at the private beach. However we took a boat ride to nearby islands and exploring the natural wonders of this stunning archipelago including Maya Bay, Monkey Beach and the Viking Cave.Â
One may also choose to do snorkelling and kayaking. The snorkelling gears are available here on rent from the resort reception at nominal rates.
THE HOTEL GROUNDS
Though we had spent lot of time at the resort but we still felt that it wasn’t enough. I loved relaxing the day away from the hustle bustle of my hectic routine life , miles away at the India’s very own silicon city , Bangalore. The sight of clean and crystal clear turquoise sea was quite soothing to me. There was plenty of greenery in and around the resort and frequent rain showers throughout our stay , kept the weather cool and enjoyable.
SERVICE
We felt that the service standards were very good. As evident in the photo below , the staff was very cheerful .The level of English communication among the staff was surprisingly good and were ever willing to help us during our stay.
FINAL THOUGHTS
It was real nice experience and we were glad that we stayed at this beach front property on the long island. Ideal for families and economy travellers, we had booked this through Booking.com and got a very good deal. The stay bought me very close to nature and was fortunate enough to spot few snails too.
