Now Lunch the OBENTO way at EDO – ITC Gardenia, Bengaluru
BREAKING NEWS : EDO is now open for Japanese Lunch . Enjoy OBENTO at ITC Gardenia
The ITC’s Japanese Flagship award winning restaurant EDO has now opened its doors for lunch on all days of the week. Now be it a busy working lunch or a important client meeting, you can relish the authentic flavors from the land of rising sun in the perfect setting.
During my visit last week for the Obento tasting , I was mesmerized by the interiors of this exquisite restaurant. Conceptualized on a theme of modern Stone park by world renowned Japanese firm of restaurant designers, Super Potato, it has been structured around three main areas – the first in India Robata Counter , a Sushi Counter with a stone waterfall in the background and semi-private dining spaces build with finest of imported wooden slabs and structure. The presence of Sake Cellar further adds to its charm. For those who love fresh air, the outside seating with water bodies around will be just apt.
For the lunch, the guest have plethora of choices from an a-la-carte and table d’hote menu to choose from. I however opted for their newly introduced OBENTO meal.
“Bento (弁当 bentō ?) is a single-portion takeout or home-packed meal common in Japanese cuisine. A traditional bento holds rice, fish or meat, with pickled or cooked vegetables, usually in a box-shaped container.” (Source:Wikipedia)
An ideal Obento lunch should be tasty , healthy and eye-appealing. It is common to see Japanese people carrying their obentos in lunch boxes called “obento-bako.” Thus it Obentos play a significant part in the Japanese culture.
Popularly known as Japanese tiffin for outsiders , it is a complete meal with essential elements of Japanese Cuisine like rice , fish or meat with pickles or cooked vegetables, in a portion size for one person.
