#GoCheeseTasting with Femina & Chef Ranveer Brar
#GoCheeseTasting Event
Yesterday , I was invited to the #GoCheeseTasting event , organised in association with India’s leading Fashion, Lifestyle magazine, Femina that also hosts Femina Miss India Pageant annually. The highlight of the event was my fellow IHM Lucknow alumni and Celebrity Chef, judge and TV host Ranveer Brar who is known for his culinary prowess and amicable personality.
With the Bangalore’s first craft brewery  The Biere Club , as the venue, the stage was perfect for the great cheese event of the year. And one could see lot of enthusiasm among the foodies and bloggers, in anticipation of culinary evening to follow.Although the entry was strictly by prior registration / invitation,I could see many hopefuls taking chance and making beeline for entry to the #GoCheeseTasting.
The event kick-started with the renowned stand up comedian, Sahil Shah, enthralling the crowd with his comical utterances, sending the audience into fits of laughter. For those who may not be aware,he is one of the founders of East India Comedy and has performed in over 600 shows in India and abroad, including the TV shows on star and Channel V.
After the comic performance, it was time for us to know about the GO cheese. And we were aptly briefed about the history , mission and product-line of Go Cheese by its representative. Some astonishing facts came to light during this interaction. Most of us were surprised to know that the Gujarat followed by Maharashtra,  were the top two cheese consuming regions of India. Our very own Namma Bangalore was third ,followed by Indian capital,Delhi.
And then the man of the moment Chef Ranveer Brar arrived. He was welcomed with thunderous applause and vociferous cheers, as he reached the dais.
It was quite an interesting and interactive rendezvous with the Chef as he apprised the audience of some stunning Cheese facts. The Gouda , the cheese named after city of same name in Netherland, is not restricted to cheese of Dutch origin and is thus used worldwide by cheese manufacturers. Similarly UK originated Cheddar Cheese can now be produced anywhere in the world with no Protected Designation of Origin within the European Union.Same hold true for the Colby Cheese too. He emphasized on the fact that Indian made cheese varieties are as good their international couterparts.I am surely going to buy “make in India” cheese after this enlightenment.
During his Cheese and wine appreciation session, the guests were served the cheese platter consisting of the Orange Cheddar cheese, Gouda Cheese and Colby, accompanied by the Dry Apricots, fresh Figs, Green & Black grapes and Green Lettuce with crackers & chutney. We savored them with the Krasma Red and White wines varieties namely the Krsma K2 and Sauvignon blanc respectively.
And that was not all, we all were treated with a his gourmet 5 course platter menu specially curated for the occasion. The menu was as follows:
- Beetroot Carpaccio with Herb Almette and Mini Greens
- Cheddar and Jack Montry Cheesy flour Nachos topped with Avacado Salsa Sauce
- Slice Cheese, Biere Mustard,Tomatoes & Olives with Toasty Brushetta
- Oozy Cheesy Pepper Agrodolce Calzone
- Crumbly Angels with Chili Grape Chutney
Though the event was all about cheese , there was ” Kuch Meetha Ho jaye” moment too. The delicious Saffron Cream Syllabub with fresh fruits with Biscotti crumbles and Almette cheese topped humming bird cake with edible flowers were perfect ending to our sumptuous gourmet meal.
During my tête-à -tête with him,
