Say HoJo to Biryani – Kebab Fete at Howard Johnson
Part of Wyndham Group , 4 star rated Howard Johnson at Thanisandra is a 117 room business hotel. Situated close to Manyata Tech Park in Hebbal, it has array of guest facilities including good looking outdoor pool, a relaxing spa with wellness and a fitness centre.
Last Saturday, I had the chance to taste the various biryanis and kebabs on offer with few food connoisseurs. But before I talk about the food , let me provide you some information on this wonderful hotel property. Popularly called as HOJO , this place has three restaurants that includes the Verve -the coffee shop , NEST – the Indian dining restaurant and the MAREA Bar.

Starting 12th August,2015 , HOJO ( short name for Howard Johnson) is hosting the Biryani & Kebab Festival for its esteemed guests in Bangalore.
The Executive Chef Bose told me that during the festival , they will be showcasing 10 different exotic varieties including 5 vegetarian variants in the menu.
My favorites from above selection were as follows:
NON VEGETARIAN
- Thallesary Fish Biryani –Fresh water fish cooked on slow fire with basmati rice with delicate spices
- Awadhi Murgh Biryani – Nawabs secret recipe a chicken biryani cooked on’dum” with long grain basmati rice and handpicked spices
- Andhra Murgh Biryani – a spicy biryani made with chicken and khada masala
VEGETARIAN
- Subz Noor Mahal Biryani – Vegetable and rice cooked with fine spinach puree and Indian spices
- Dolma Biryani – Mushrooms and rice combination with aromatic Indian spices
- Chaman Biryani – Cottage cheese biryani cooked with selected herbs and spices
There were some delectable kebabs served too as part of this wonderful fest. They included :
