Restaurant Review :Vidyarthi Bhawan , Basvangudi , Bangalore | India
VIDYARTH BHAWAN – Lot has been already said and written about this legendary restaurant of Bangalore. Recently it commemorated 75 years of famed benne masala dose of Bangalore and I felt this is apt time for me to share my views about this place on my blog.
The history about the place is quite interesting as it started as a quaint eatery to cater students , hence the name “Vidyarthi Bhawan” , in the year 1943.Ever since the menu has remain the same with an exception of Gulab Jamun , that is disappeared after the demise of chef who excelled in it.
The menu has 6 dishes to offer , namely their signature and most sought after Benne Masala Dose , Poori Sagu , the twins Khara and Kesari Bhath , must have Idly sambhar , quintessential Rava Vade and healthy Uppittu along with daily dose of filter Kaapi.

For those who would love to visit them , my advise is to head to this place early and reach by 6;30 am. It is open at 6.30 am and closes at 11.30 am and reopens at 2 pm till 8 pm from Monday to Thursday, with Friday being the weekly holiday. During weekend , the timings in the morning are extended by half an hour and is open from 6.30 am to 12 noon and 2.30 pm to 8 pm.
